Sewing Design Once Upon a Time

March 11, 2010

Yes, I once wrote a sewing book too. In point of fact, years ago I was an avid seamstress of sorts and worked my way into sewing most everything my family wore as well as designing everything without patterns. I had gradually come up with a simple patternless sewing system, and had fallen into teaching sewing classes to mostly novices, but some skilled seamstresses were curious to learn my system as well. It wasn’t long before my sewing design students begged me for a book to remind them of everything they had learned in my classes. And so, I took some time to put a sewing book together to satisfy the needs of my sewing ladies.

Since all those books sold out long ago, many ladies have asked me about my sewing book and where it is available for them to purchase. I’ve even heard of some ‘black market’ (illegally copied) copies of my sewing book out there. It seems there has been some desperation. So, apparently, it is high time for me to bring back that long lost book and I hope to get the needed work done sooner rather than later. Before the ‘second edition’ of my sewing book comes out, I plan to add a ‘more’ chapter to the end and do some tweaking to the text and diagrams to make it all the better.

For those ladies who are waiting patiently for this book, I will try to get myself back into the sewing zone long enough to finish up a better work on the subject. Yes, I do dust off my sewing machine on occasion and give it some exercise, when needs or wants call for it.

As you may be able to see, I’ve had many interests, or at least numerous intermittent hobbies. Or perhaps I simply have a short attention span.

I lost your Sewing Without Patterns book in one of my many moves. I have tried to sew with memories of what you taught me personally. I need to sew again after many years of buying store bought clothes that don’t fit me.
