Comments on Fionna, chapter 6
To all dear Mildreds out there, please forgive me for using your name so unkindly. When this not-so-nice character unfolded before me, I confess I labored somewhat over what name to finally settle upon her, for I did not wish to offend any kind and good women by using their own name in less than a lovely light. Perhaps I could have invented some unknown name, but any names I thought up, were already in existence or seemed invented and contrived.
Many thanks for continued encouraging comments and emails – more reasons for me to continue writing fiction. I confess myself pleasantly surprised by some men in the audience! I was convinced that the word ‘Bonnets’ would undoubtedly frighten away all but women who sway my way in fiction. However, some men (obviously secure in their manhood!) who may be sensitive, artistic or perhaps romantic in nature, were brave enough to check out ‘Fionna’ and even come back to read each week!
Whew! That went much better than I feared. Yes, I did worry a little about how it would look to Mildred that the kids suddenly had new things after the selling of their father’s farm goods…
And a baby… oh my… how will that alter the course of their story?
We’ll just have to read and see…
